Launch of the 10th Annual Manufacturers Week

For the 10th year running, ZAM is hosting a decade of the Annual Manufacturers Week from 14th -19th November 2021. The 10th Annual Manufacturers Week is being commemorated under the theme “Accelerating Economic Transformation Through Value Addition”. The week is aimed at celebrating the Zambian manufacturing sector through promoting Zambian manufactured products, enhancing business linkages and providing a platform to discuss challenges and opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

The specific objectives of the 10th Annual Manufacturer’s Week are to: develop policy action points towards alleviating the challenges and bolstering the opportunities and enhance growth of the manufacturer; showcase high-quality locally produced goods and services; promote a culture of corporate social responsibility (CSR) among local manufacturers; promote quality and standardisation of locally produced goods; and provide a platform for local producers and policy makers to share ideas on growth opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

To kickstart the event, the 10th Annual Manufacturer’s Week was launched by the Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry – Honourable Chipoka Mulenga, MP, in a speech aired on ZNBC TV1 at 21:50 on 14th November 2021. The objective of the launch was to raise awareness and drum-up support for the Week’s activities.

In his speech the Minister expressed delight in supporting this great initiative by ZAM because the event provides a platform through which local manufacturers not only showcase the potential of modern manufacturing, but also foster interest in manufacturing careers. He further added that the Manufacturers Week is dedicated to ensuring that the manufacturing sector receives the recognition and accolades it deserves. Hon. Mulenga reiterated that his Ministry will continue to support and participate in this important initiative to promote the ’Proudly Zambian Campaign’ which seeks to spur job creation and economic development through promoting production and consumption of high-quality Zambian products.
