The “Buy Zambia Expo” was launched on Thursday 9th November 2017 by Hon. Margaret Mwanakatwe at Manda Hill Shopping Mall.
The Buy Zambian Expo brought together 25 local firms to showcase their products and sell them at promotional prices. The expo attracted a number of visitors to the stands and achieved one of its objectives, which was to provide an opportunity for manufacturers and service providers alike to showcase their products and services with a view to enhancing business linkages and developing supply chains that are vibrant and anchored in supporting local products.
During the official launch, the Honourable Minister emphasized the importance of producing and supporting local manufacturing as this has a ripple effect on the economy in terms of job creation, poverty alleviation and wealth creation. She stated that as one of the priority sectors as highlighted in the Seventh National Development Plan, the manufacturing sector should be supported in building consumer confidence and creating the “Think Local First” mind-set. She applauded ZAM for their continued effort in hosting the Manufactures Week.
The Minister further took some time to visit the stands and have a one to one interaction with the local manufacturers.
The “Buy Zambian” Expo ran from 9-11th November with companies actively conducting product promotions, product tasting and providing a number of product giveaways to promote local consumption.
